Myspace began it all then was pushed out of the way by a new, easier, and addicting site: Facebook. Mark Zuckerburg had an idea of a website that could connect people from all over the world. Once it caught on, the world was addicted and Mark was a billionaire. Facebook has opened many doors not only for people looking to connect with old and new friends. Using the site you can promote your business or band, organize events, or share creative thoughts. I have discovered many new artists using the site and also planned a few open mics all through Facebook without using hardly any other means of communication. This site is also not just for the members of generation Y, more and more adults are finding that Facebook is a useful tool to contact childhood friends and distant family members. Since going to college, my mother crated a Facebook account and now we can talk more frequently during the day and can leave each other messages when ever we have a chance.
Yes, the site can be abused by the immature individual by posting inappropriate comments and/or pictures, although this is not how every person using the site. People decide what to put up and anything that goes up can come off with the click of a mouse. To say that all of Facebook is a breeding ground for debaucherous activity is an extreme and uninformed exaggeration. Some people view the site in this way, this is an unfortunate but small part of what the site contains.
Question: From a young adult standpoint, do you think that "Facebook is evil" or does it generally serve a beneficial purpose in society?
