Are we compatible?

Match.com says it can find someone who is "compatible" to you. They ask you questions about your likes and dislikes, hobbies, and lifestyle. If people are telling the truth, the matched couples will most likely get along. Add in some sexual chemistry and there you go, presto! If only it was that easy. It takes more than having similar interests to have a successful and lasting relationship. So what makes two people click together? Is the answer in our nature? Do we judge people at first for basic reasons? For example, does a woman look at a man and think "he would provide for me and protect me?" Or do we look for common interests first instead when looking for someone to be in a relationship with? I feel that a connection to another person grows over time. First you feel attracted to them in basic ways, then as you start discovering more about the person your connection grows. A successful relationship is one where there are strong connections. Of course you will not like every trait about your partner but if the good far out weighs the bad and they make you truly happy, you have something good that is worth keeping. This is compatibility, the ability to be with another person consistently and have your feelings for them grow and your connection become stronger.

When two people are not compatible, it can be right off the bat or it may take time to discover. A person can develop connections with another but when the bad outweighs the good is when the realization of not being compatible arises. This can occur when a guy or girl seems perfect at first but then shows their true colors later on, usually after feelings have developed. This become a difficult situation to get out of for the other person, but what it comes down to is them having no choice but to leave. Get out and forget about that person who brought down your happiness, they don't deserve your time and energy. We have to fight our nature of giving second chances here, they are rarely deserved in an unhealthy relationship situation.

Question: Do you believe in love at first sight? Or lust at first sight? Or neither?
